The valley of the Danube and its side-valleys belong to the ‘Cool climate’ areas of Austria. Some vineyards are even too cold for red wine making. Zweigelt, St. Laurent and Pinot Noir grapes grown in the cooler sites of Gobelsburg and Langenlois are used for this wine.
Rosé on the estate is not seen as a secondary product to red wine, meaning we are not doing ‘saignée’ in order to concentrate the reds, but we are working in our vineyards in order to get the perfect Gobelsburg rosé wine type, which is closer to a white in style. We are looking for charming and elegant aromas, fresh and lean texture and a racy, profound acidity for pure drinking pleasure.
