history spanning more than 850 years, we are committed not only to the wines of the present but also to the winemaking styles of the past.
Wines from earlier eras were subject to different production
conditions and different conceptions of wine. If one traces the history of winemaking, one realizes that wine has always been an expression of its time and has evolved accordingly in response to trends and values.

The TRADITION Heritage 3 Years reflects the classic style of the 19th century. During the German Empire, the minimum aging period for wines was about 3 years before they were sold. However, there were always wines that were aged significantly longer in the estate’s cellars and reserved for special occasions and celebrations—a style we seek to capture in the TRADITION Heritage 10 Years.
